Even before acts like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach officially bring Rock am Ring 2026 up to operating temperature on Friday evening (June 5th), one topic is present everywhere: the mud doesn’t make it easy for festival-goers on the camping site. The unpredictable underground apparently sent some fans to the hospital before the first concert.
In a “Rock am Ring” Facebook group warned a visitor other festival guests about the conditions on the site. “Please be careful with the mud… I just messed it up,” she captioned a photo from the hospital. You can see her elevated, bandaged leg in an orthosis. She did not write down exactly what injury she sustained.
Other Rock am Ring fans reported under the post who also had a rough encounter with the slippery surface. One reports a “beautiful somersault”, others show crutches and bandages.
Changeable festival weather – normal for Rock am Ring

Traditionally, people are used to a lot at Rock am Ring. Rain, mud and cold nights are almost as much a part of festival folklore at the Nürburgring as canned beer and Flunkyball. So far it hasn’t been quite as dramatic as in some legendary weather years, but due to the rain on the arrival Thursday it is muddy enough that paths, meadows and camping areas become slippery.
Even at the start the weather remains rather uncomfortable. Rain showers are forecast again and again for Friday, the temperatures are in the cool range. Things are also likely to remain changeable on Saturday before there are somewhat brighter prospects at the end on Sunday.
Rock am Ring is sold out again this year. Around 90,000 visitors are expected at the Nürburgring from June 5th to 7th. The program includes Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach – a line-up that many fans have been longing for for months. It would be all the more bitter if the route from the campsite to the stage thwarted the fans’ plans.
The most important festival rule of the day is therefore: It’s best to walk slowly on the campsite and the paths to the infield, wear sturdy shoes and don’t underestimate the mud. Because the Rock am Ring spirit is much harder to enjoy in a hospital bed.
