The Verdi union has called Amazon employees at seven German shipping centers to go on a warning strike again. With the start of the night shift on Monday, employees in Graben near Augsburg, Leipzig, Werne, Rheinberg, Koblenz and at two locations in Bad Hersfeld should stop work, Verdi announced on Sunday. The goal is the Christmas business of the world’s largest online retailer "sensitive to disturb".

With the warning strike, the union is responding to statements by the new Amazon Germany boss, Rocco Bräuniger. Like his predecessor, he does not want to conclude a legally binding collective agreement for employees with Verdi. Verdi has been campaigning for years that Amazon employees are paid according to tariffs as laid down in the collective agreements for retail and mail order businesses. (dpa)
