The Verdi union has called on workers at the Amazon logistics center in Winsen/Luhe to go on a warning strike on Wednesday. "We’re on strike because Amazon made a wage adjustment that’s far too low"the Verdi shop steward in the Winsen Amazon warehouse, Entisar Mennerich, was quoted in a message on Tuesday evening. "Amazon now pays three percent more without negotiating with the union."
Against the background of high inflation, that is not enough.
According to a Verdi spokesman, the strike should start at 5:30 a.m., end at 11:30 p.m. and last two shifts in total. From around 5 a.m. there should be a first rally on the site, which should last until around 9 a.m. Another small meeting is planned from 2 p.m. with the start of the late shift. Amazon itself could not initially be reached for a statement in the evening. (dpa)
