It has been around since Saturday, but now it is also official. Branco van den Boomen has signed a four-year contract with Ajax. The midfielder comes over transfer-free from Toulouse FC. He previously played in the capital from 2011-2014.
After his period at Ajax, Van den Boomen was active for FC Eindhoven, De Graafschap and Toulouse (since 2020), among others. With the French club he became champion of Ligue 2 (second tier) in 2022 and played in Ligue 1 this season. He won the cup last month by beating FC Nantes 5-1.

In the last match of the season Ajax lost painfully 3-1 to FC Twente. As a result, the team from Amsterdam finished third in the Eredivisie. The Europa League is therefore the highest achievable for Ajax next year.
