In UZ Leuven, two intestinal transplant patients have successfully received a new abdominal wall. Such an operation has already been performed around fifty times worldwide, but now for the first time also successfully in our country. The technique for that transplant helps to prevent an open abdomen after an organ transplant, reports the Leuven university hospital.
