US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that recognition by Russia independence of the republics of Donbass is tantamount to Moscow’s refusal of the Minsk agreements.
Blinken said in a statement that this would further undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, would be a flagrant violation of international law and call into question Russia’s declared commitment to a diplomatic course to resolve the situation.
In the event that Russia recognizes the independence of the LPR and DPR, Blinken promised “a quick and decisive response from the United States in full coordination with our allies and partners.”
With an appeal to Vladimir Putin the State Duma spoke about the recognition of the republics of Donbass. Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov also reported that recognition is not correlated with the Minsk agreements. And Putin’s main task is to implement the Minsk Package of Measures.
