DOW JONES–The US economy grew slightly faster in the third quarter than previously expected. As the Bureau for Economic Analyzes announced in its third publication, gross domestic product (GDP) rose at an annualized rate of 3.1 percent compared to the previous quarter. Economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast 2.9 percent growth, after a second release reported 2.8 percent. In the second quarter, GDP rose by 3.0 percent.
The GDP deflator rose 1.9 percent, in line with the forecast and the second release. In the second quarter, the GDP deflator rose by 2.5 percent. The personal consumption expenditure price index (PCE deflator) increased by 1.5 (second publication: 1.5) percent and the core PCE deflator increased by 2.2 (2.1) percent.
