US comedian and game show host Louie Anderson died in Las Vegas on Friday at the age of 68.
Only a few days ago, Anderson had come to the hospital for treatment with an aggressive type of cancer. His spokesman initially gave the all-clear that Anderson was recovering well.
Now Anderson’s publicist had to announce the death of the popular actor. Sad news for all fans who knew him, for example, as fast food seller Maurice in “The Prince from Zamunda”, but also from a number of stand-up shows and sitcoms.
His comedy career lasted 40 years! According to the Deadline Friday website, the Emmy Award winner suffered from what is known as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. It is not known exactly when the comedian received the cancer diagnosis.
Louie Anderson became known in the mid-eighties with a stand-up comedy appearance on Johnny Carson’s (†79) legendary “Tonight Show”. This was followed by guest roles in films such as “The Prince of Zamunda”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and in series such as “Ally McBeal”, “Scrubs”, “Baskets” and “Young Sheldon”.
