PSV has made mincemeat of reigning Italian champion Napoli in the Champions League. The Eindhoven team fell behind on Tuesday evening, but recovered in a swirling Philips Stadium with an incredible continuation of the match, which ended 6-2.

Segiño Dest surprisingly started on the bench. The full-back would have been late, causing Ryan Flamingo to take over his place at right-back. There was a positive atmosphere in the stadium in the run-up to the match and all remaining Neapolitans had reached the away section in good order.

But PSV had a hard time at the start of the match and it was Napoli who had a lot of possession of the ball. Fortunately, there was no goal against and the Eindhoven team seemed to get into their game better.

One chance
The people of Eindhoven became stronger and stronger, and this was also reflected in the Eindhoven fans. They got louder and louder and Ismael Saibari thought he might score, but he was offside.

Despite PSV’s good play, the opponent remained an Italian team. And they often only need one chance, as was evident this time. After a cross from Leonardo Spinazzola, it was Scott McTominay who headed in in minute 31.

But Napoli could not enjoy the lead for long. A few minutes later, a cross from Ivan Perisic seemed to be headed in from the stands by Guus Til, but it was Alessandro Buongiorno who headed the ball into his own goal and leveled the score.

PSV in the lead
The crowd was still celebrating the 1-1 and the next one was already in hand. In the counter, Guus Til sent away Ismael Saibari, who had a free passage from the halfway line and finished coolly. Everyone in the Philips Stadium went crazy, there was nothing like a concert.

PSV continued to play well after the break, with results. After a good action by Mauro Junior along the sideline, it was Dennis Man who tapped the custom cross over the line and scored the 3-1.

To force something, Antonio Conte brought former PSV player Noa Lang into the team on the Napoli side, who entered the field to loud applause from all the fans. It was a pleasure in the Philips Stadium this Tuesday evening. PSV stringed together chances and it was waiting for the 4-1.

Red card
The PSV fans in the stadium could even wave on Tuesday evening. Former Ajax player Lorenzo Lucca was able to take a shower after commenting on the arbitration. It is doubtful whether he understood anything of the chanted ‘goodbye and thank you’.

For PSV it was just a matter of finishing the match, you would think. Minutes after the red card, Dennis Man went in and shot hard into the short corner to make it 4-1.

Napoli did something back through Scott McTominay again, but that didn’t do anything for PSV either. Because once again there was another goal for Peter Bosz’s team in no time. This time it was substitute Ricardo Pepi who put his name on the scoreboard.

The fans no longer knew what they were experiencing when Couhaib Driouech made the final score 6-2. A great result against the reigning champions of Italy and a much-needed victory to maintain a view of the next round of the Champions League.
