In 7DAYS EuroCup, Europe’s second biggest cup on the basis of clubs, Turkey managed to be in the final with one team, as it was last year. Erdem Can, who has coached the team for the second time in his career, is giving Türk Telekom a great season. Being the leader in the Turkish League, the Blue-Whites have now managed to reach the finals in the European lane. Türk Telekom, who finished 2nd in Group B and made it to the last 16 round, respectively; Germani Brescia (77-69) won the final ticket by defeating Group 3’s Ulm (86-76) in the quarter-finals and Group A leader Poremety (76-74) away in the semi-finals.

Türk Telekom’s rival on the way to the championship was the Spanish team Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria reached the final by defeating another Spanish representative, Joventut Badalona, in the semi-finals of the EuroCup. The giant match will be played in the Canary Islands, hosted by Gran Canaria. While our representative Türk Telekom finished the regular season with the second place in Group B, Gran Canaria, in which we were in the same group, finished ahead of Türk Telekom. And therefore, due to the status, the cup competition will be played in the Canary Islands, as Gran Canaria has the field advantage.
SCANDAL EVENTS
Before the giant match, it was learned that a scandalous incident occurred. Türk Telekom General Manager Önder Külçebaş reported what the bus driver carrying our representative did. Külçebaş said that the driver deliberately extended the road and hurt Erdem Can’s neck because of an act he deliberately made.
Speaking to TRT Spor, Türk Telekom General Manager Önder Külçebaş described the incident as follows:
“The bus driver who brought us to the hall took 10 minutes and 40 minutes. We were late for training. Then we turned up the volume of the radio. We asked him to turn the radio down a few times. When our teacher wanted to go and turn down the volume, he deliberately stepped on the brake. Our teacher hurt his neck by hitting his head on the glass. He had training with a neck brace, from here. “We don’t want to blame EuroCup and Gran Canaria, but the person responsible will be held accountable. Let me tell you, our coach will play the game.”
