UEFA maintains the sanction against Sporting de Portugal of not being able to play European competitions due to debts

The Appeals Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) he has dismissed the appeal of Sporting de Portugal against economic fine and the exclusion from playing European competitions of clubs for three seasons Failure to comply with the requirement of not having overdue debtsas reported by UEFA.

The CFCB confirmed the exclusion of the club from the next club competition (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) for which they qualify in the 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasonsexcept that before next January 31 can prove that you have paid the amount due by the 15th at the latestunder a settlement agreement with another club closed last November.

The resolution communicated this Tuesday also confirms the 250,000 fine euros imposed on the Portuguese club. UEFA also notified the partial estimate of the appeal of the Portuguese club Saint Claresanctioned in the same way, for the same reason and with a fine of 75,000 euros.

The Portuguese team will not be able to participate in the European club competition for which it can qualify in the next three seasonsunless it proves before January 31 that has paid the full amount due to the authorities social/tax payments that were in arrears, or submit a written agreement as an extension of the payment term.
