Berlin (AP) – Nothing stands in the way of the expected debut of Malik Tillman from FC Bayern Munich in the US national soccer team.
As reported by the AP news agency, the world association FIFA has approved the transfer of the 20-year-old striker from the German Football Association to the US association. This means that the former German U21 international can play for the national team for the first time in this Wednesday’s friendly against Morocco in Cincinnati.
Tillman had not previously been called up for the Germany U21 squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Hungary (June 3) and Poland (June 7, 2022). Nuremberg-born Malik Tillman, brother of the Fürth professional Timothy (23), already played two games for the USA in the U15s before he went through all the DFB U-teams and recently also played four games for the U21s.
A change was possible because Tillman has not yet completed an international match for Germany. In the Bundesliga, Tillman made four appearances for German champions Munich and in the first round of the DFB Cup, where he scored a goal against Bremer SV (12-0).
