“It will now be important that we maintain communication with the players – whether through phone calls, messages or club visits. This primarily affects those we already know, but certainly also guys who haven’t been there yet. So everyone has the chance to recommend themselves for the U21 in the coming months, “he said in the DFB-Journal.
In September, Di Salvo succeeded successful coach Stefan Kuntz, whose assistant he was previously. “There was already a lot of teamwork in the successes of recent years. Stefan Kuntz, Daniel Niedzkowski, Klaus Thomforde, Jannis Scheibe and I, as the coaching team, had our share in the successes of the U21s – whether in dealing with the team or in the philosophy of the game”, said the 42-year-old. “We are now continuing this team spirit. In the European Championship qualification, the German team took first place in their group after six match days. The nine group winners and the best runner-up in the group will qualify directly for the finals in Romania and Georgia in 2023.
