Spaniard Abel Ruiz has replaced Florian Wirtz as the fastest goalscorer in the history of the U21 European Championships.
The attacker made it 1-0 after just 20 seconds in the group game against Croatia in Bucharest. He was nine seconds faster than the then 18-year-old Wirtz in the 2021 semifinals against the Netherlands (2-1).
Two European Championship records were set on Saturday: The 41,887 spectators at the game between co-hosts Georgia and Belgium (2:2) in Tbilisi made up the largest crowd in the history of the tournament.
