On the Luikerweg in Valkenswaard, a cyclist was hit by a motorist when she was crossing the road. The Belgian driver tried to avoid the victim, but failed.
According to a 112 correspondent, bystanders looked after the woman until ambulances arrived. An air ambulance also arrived at the scene and landed at the nearby roundabout of the Zuidelijke Randweg.
The cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance. The road was closed for investigation.
Distraction
A little further on, around the same time, another accident happened, in which a car crashed into a tree. According to our correspondent, this had nothing to do with the other accident. The damage to the car is extensive, but the occupants were uninjured.
