Türkgücü Munich files for insolvency – point deduction threatens

The Munich football club Türkgücü is insolvent. The third division club has filed a formal application for insolvency. That could have immense sporting consequences for the highly ambitious club.

Third division club Türkgücü Munich has filed for bankruptcy. This was announced by the club management on Monday. “Up until the day the application was submitted, we tried everything in our power to avert this step,” emphasized Managing Director Max Kothny in a statement.

He added: “Even if that unfortunately didn’t work out, it is now important to see the situation not as the end, but as an opportunity. We now have the opportunity to rebuild without burdens from the past and with the help of possible new, strong sponsors to align.”

President Hasan Kivran was obviously no longer willing to close the financial gaps. According to media reports, the January salaries for the professionals are still pending.

Türkgücü threatens relegation to league four

The highly ambitious club from the Bavarian capital actually wanted to pack promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga by 2023. Now he is threatened with being deducted nine points from the points account for the current third division season due to the financial quarrels in accordance with the DFB rules of the game.

Türkgücü is currently in 18th place in the 3rd division with 21 points from 22 games. Even without the point deduction, the Munich team would, as of now, be relegated.
