True Religion unveils expansion plans for Asia, Africa and the Middle East

The US clothing retailer True Religion wants to massively expand its international presence. Asia, Africa and the Middle East are the focus of the expansion plans the company unveiled on Thursday. The new markets that are to be developed in the coming months include India, Indonesia, South Korea, the Philippines, South Africa, Lebanon and Qatar.

After the company had already initiated its expansion into China in March through a sales partnership with the Aurorae Group, the number of foreign markets is to be increased to a total of 26 with the market entries now announced. The clothing supplier relies on various formats adapted to local conditions, ranging from large boutiques to shop-in-shop areas. For example, the company said it plans to open new stores in metropolises such as Mumbai, Jakarta, Manila and Johannesburg this fall. The first stores in Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul will follow next spring.

CEO Michael Buckley explained the plans: “Building on our market entry in China, global expansion into high-growth markets remains a key strategy for us in the near future,” he emphasized in a statement. “We look forward to working with our partners in these dynamic regions and are committed to delivering a best-in-class brand experience to True Religion customers around the world.”
