Truck gets stuck on the A24 bridge – one injured, traffic jam for hours

A dump truck driver wasn’t paying enough attention on Friday. He hadn’t lowered his truck bed and got stuck on an A24 bridge. There were long traffic jams and 100,000 euros in damage.

A truck driver with the tipping part set up rammed an A24 bridge near Fehrbellin (Ostprignitz-Ruppin) on Friday morning, causing kilometer-long traffic jams on the Autobahn 24 Hamburg-Berlin. A police spokeswoman said the damage was around 100,000 euros.

The truck driver from the Uckermark drove onto the Autobahn with two colleagues in two other tippers at the Fehrbellin junction. The other two trucks drove under the first road bridge and the third truck got stuck. As a result of the impact, the accident truck also rammed the middle support of the road bridge that leads over the A24 and then overturned onto the A24.

The 41-year-old truck driver from Western Pomerania was injured in the accident and was taken to a clinic.

The A24, which also includes the autobahn from Rostock to Berlin, was closed in the direction of Berlin for around eight hours on Friday traffic. Traffic has already been diverted in Neuruppin, but there were also significant traffic jams on the detour routes. A structural engineer examined the bridge and gave the all-clear.
