The strike by NS staff in the Northern Netherlands does not mean that other regional carriers are busier. “We have not noticed that there is an extra offer. Travelers have taken this into account”, says bus operator Qbuzz.
In fact, Arriva’s trains have even fewer people than usual. “People can’t travel on, so that’s why it’s quieter today,” said a spokesperson. “A lot of people haven’t gone traveling.”
The regional train operator was considering using extra trains today to accommodate stranded NS passengers. But that turned out not to be necessary. “Experience shows that our offer is so sufficient”.
Many travelers have therefore made it a home working day – in the corona tradition. But that doesn’t work for everyone. “I always travel from Groningen to Beilen, but that’s not possible today: the NS has to go on strike if necessary. But I just have to go to work, and my boss also says: you should come,” says a traveler at Assen station. .
