Transfer-free Telstar defender Özgür Aktas signs with MVV Maastricht

Özgür Aktas has found a new club in MVV Maastricht. The central defender was transfer-free after his departure from Telstar.

“MVV is a great club,” Aktas said at the website of the Limburgers. “Despite the fact that I had several offers, I chose based on my feeling. MVV has a nice following and together we want to go to at least the playoffs again next season.”

At Telstar, Aktas grew into a rock in the surf. The 26-year-old central defender settled in Velsen-Zuid in 2021. Bee The White Lions he turned out to be a real man-decker. Last season there were only four players in the first division who won more personal duels than Aktas (209).

In addition to Aktas, Anass Najah, Anwar Bensabouh and Delvechio Blackson also disappeared from Telstar this summer. “That is the consequence after such a season as last year. There is then interest in players,” said trainer Mike Snoei after Telstar’s first training. “I think that’s fine, because ambition is healthy. Only we will continue.”
