Train traffic in Brabant will be disrupted again next Tuesday. The personnel of the Dutch Railways (NS) then stops work. The joint trade unions have decided this. They hope in this way to get the management of the NS to ‘agree on a good collective labor agreement’.
On August 30, train traffic was stopped throughout the country, with the exception of, among others, the Land van Cuijk, where Arriva provides transport. A day later there were also actions in (including) Brabant.
In addition to the South region, NS employees will also go on strike on 13 September in the North and East regions. The regional actions will start on September 9 (in the Northwest and West regions). On September 15, it will be the turn of the Central region, which will probably have consequences for the entire country. Utrecht falls under this area and many lines converge here.
“The willingness to take action among NS staff is extremely high,” says negotiator Jerry Piqué of CNV Vakmensen. “We will now continue until the NS comes along and is willing to agree a good collective labor agreement with us, with a substantial salary increase and agreements about tackling the workload. Otherwise, unfortunately, the action train will continue.”
