The unclear future of Erling Haaland is a constant topic around Borussia Dortmund. Most recently, the attacker explained that he felt pressured by BVB. Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke can certainly understand the goal scorer’s reaction.
Erling Haaland can leave Borussia Dortmund early in the summer. But the 21-year-old is still hesitating with his decision. A few days ago there were rumors that BVB should have given its key player a deadline of February.
Haaland then responded to the Norwegian broadcaster “Viaplay” with clear words. “The club are trying to put pressure on me, pushing me to make a decision. I really just want to play football but they are pushing me to make a decision about my future. And that means I have to make a decision soon,” he said the center forward visibly annoyed.
According to Dortmund’s managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke, BVB does not have a deadline, as the 62-year-old revealed to “ARD” during the DFB Cup duel with FC St. Pauli (1: 2): “That that one or the other medium writes that BVB would certainly give him an ultimatum – until February last week it said somewhere – which is total bullshit.”
Watzke: No problem between BVB and Haaland
Because of this, Watzke can even understand Haaland’s reaction. “For a player who now speaks good German but doesn’t understand everything, it’s sometimes difficult to work out whether an official has said that or is it pure speculation by the media,” said the BVB official.
In addition, Watzke asserted that there would be “no problem at all” between the black and yellow and Haaland. So the Norwegian still has some time left. In the event of a Haaland departure, BVB sees itself armed. “If Erling really should go – and that can happen – we will find a solution again,” said Watzke.
