In those images taken at 17:47 local time (08:47 GMT), the plane could be seen taxiing on the runway before an explosion occurred that left a trail of flames behind the plane, which then reduced its speed. There were 379 people on the plane, who were evacuated.

The accident occurred after a possible collision with a Coast Guard aircraft. After the impact, the 379 passengers and crew have been evacuated. Live footage from public broadcaster NHK showed the plane burst into flames while taxiing on the runway.
