Normally, former winners are no longer allowed to participate in the competition. Spin-offs of winning programs are also normally not allowed to win a second time. But this year that was allowed, because the Televizier gala is celebrating an anniversary.

The program won with 74 percent of the votes. The trio responded from the studio of Today Insidewhere they had just made a broadcast.

In his speech of thanks, Wilfred Genee recalled that he had pitched his plan for a program about football to RTL in 2008. “The CEO then said: we absolutely no longer believe in talking about football the way you do.” Genee continued with his plan at SBS. “And three years later we won the Televizier-Ring.”

On behalf of the three men, Genee thanked the entire team behind the program. “Sometimes you have to believe in something, and we have been working with a very small and great team for 25 years,” said Genee. “I know you don’t all like us. But we try to do it as who we are, and so far we have succeeded.”

The other two nominated programs were The hunting season: most wanted from Videoland and the popular regional soap Wasteland from AvroTros.
