The race was dominated by a large leading group that formed early in the race. In addition to Dupont, Van Lerberghe, Planckaert, Jonas Rickaert and outgoing Belgian champion Daan Soete were present.
In the last round, Frenchman Samuel Leroux escaped, after which the Belgians started looking at each other because the first Belgian, even though he came second, became the new Belgian champion. Ultimately it became a sprint in which Dupont came out on top. It is the third title for the 38-year-old West Flemish.
Among the women, the Belgian beach race title went to Lotte Claes. Claes, who will transfer to Fenix-Premier Tech on January 1, was the only professional rider to start at the Belgian Championships. She won solo ahead of Joyce Vanderbeken and Laerke Expeels.
