Local transport staff, which includes buses and trams, went on strike on Friday for a better collective labor agreement. In addition, thousands of bus drivers will go to The Hague for a demonstration. As a result, regional buses and trains will be canceled on Friday, reports the union FNV.
The employees of regional transport companies have laid down requirements for a better collective labor agreement in an ultimatum. Marijn van der Gaag, director of FNV Streekvervoer: “The sector must become more attractive so that new staff can be recruited. At the moment there is a lot of turnover, resulting in staff shortages. As a result, the workload increases and with it the absenteeism due to illness.”
Last week regional actions were already organized in several provinces. The manifestation in The Hague starts at 12:00. The FNV has invited MPs who have public transport in their portfolio to attend the meeting.
