Thousands of Germans protest against new corona measures and ‘lockdown light’ Abroad

In northeastern Schwerin, some 2,700 people took part in the protest against the proposal to make vaccination mandatory. That despite the cold weather and slippery roads, according to the police. Thousands of people also protested in Rostock.

About 3,000 people marched through the center of Magdeburg, police said. In Halle there were again 1,500 demonstrators. Protests also took place in other cities in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

There were also protests in the state of Thuringia, with some 2,000 participants in Gera, about 1,300 in Altenburg. There were larger gatherings and marches in Stadtilm, Hermsdorf, Saalfeld and Eisenach.

In the state of Hesse, 1,000 people took part in protests in Saarbrücken and Fulda. There were also protests in other cities in the state.

The protests are taking place in the run-up to new rules to prevent the spread of the corona virus. From Tuesday, stricter rules will apply in eight states.
