At the home European Championships, the main round for the German handball players is to make it to the semi-finals. This is how you can see the duels of the DHB team live on TV and stream.
Now things are getting serious: the main round of the home European Championship is coming up for the German national handball team. If national coach Alfred Gíslason’s team wants to realize their dream of winning the title in front of their home crowd, the DHB team has to get one of the top two places in group one of the main round.
The starting point for this is not entirely ideal. In the preliminary round, the Germans celebrated victories against Switzerland and North Macedonia, but the defeat against France meant they didn’t take any points into the main round group.
It is therefore forbidden to lose in the duels against Iceland, Austria, Hungary and Croatia if the team led by team captain Johannes Golla does not want to jeopardize their goal in the semi-finals. There was already a narrow win against Iceland. After the opening game in front of a record crowd of over 53,000 spectators in the Düsseldorf football stadium and two games in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, they will now compete in the German handball mecca, the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. The semi-finals and finals will also take place there. In the cathedral city, 20,000 fans will frenetically cheer them on.

Yes. ARD and ZDF show all games from the DHB selection free of charge for everyone. The two channels alternate. The first game against Iceland last Thursday was shown on ZDF. The second match against Austria this Saturday (8.30 p.m.) will now take place on ARD. ZDF will be taking over again for the duel with Hungary on Monday (January 22nd, 8:30 p.m.). The main round final against Croatia on Wednesday (January 24th, 8:30 p.m.) can be seen again on ARD.
Can I also follow the games on stream?
Also yes. Both broadcasters also show the games in streams in their respective media libraries. In addition, the streaming platform Dyn broadcasts all games from the European Handball Championship. However, a paid subscription is required for this.
