Quentin Tarantino has first publicly revealed which of his films is his personal favorite. In a conversation at the podcast “The Church of Tarantino”, the star director explained that his film “Once Upon A Time … in Hollywood”, published in 2019, took this place.

Tarantino’s personal favorites

“Once upon a time … in Hollywood is my favorite film, Inglourious Basterds is my best work,” said Tarantino very specifically. He also described his martial arts trilogy “Kill Bill” as “the ultimate quentin film” that nobody could have done. “Every aspect comes directly from my imagination, my passion and my obsession,” he added.

Assessment of his scripts

Tarantino also commented on his screenplays in the podcast: “Inglourious Basterds” was his strongest script, closely followed by “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon A Time … in Hollywood”. About “The Hateful Eight” he also said: “There is an aspect in which I actually think it is my best staging of my own material. The material was already solid, I didn’t have to create it.”

David Fincher takes over director for successor project

Tarantino is currently working on a follow -up project for “Once Upon A Time … in Hollywood” with the title “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”, which will concentrate on Brad Pitts Figure. In contrast to previous films, Tarantino will not direct itself. Instead, David Fincher takes over the direction, while Tarantino remains involved as a screenwriter and producer. He said about the decision: “I think David Fincher really wants to adapt my work, that shows a serious respect for my work.”

Originally, a film entitled “The Movie Critic” was also planned, which was to be a turning point in Tarantino’s career. However, he rejected the plan because the project appeared to him similar to previous work. He said about his motivation: “I wanted to do something that I didn’t already know how everything would work. I had to enter new territory again.”
