Ask a resident from Goirle about the Ven district and he navigates you in a few steps to the green heart of the village. Since the beginning of this year, a white villa has been for sale in Van Malsenstraat 11. Asking price: 1,250,000 euros. The villa has 1956 as a year of construction and has been renovated, renovated and modernized several times over the years.
The last resident, pension expert Theo Gommer (58), has since left the building and recently went to live eight kilometers away in Poppel, Belgium. Gommer can regularly be seen as an expert in TV programs such as Kassa, Radar and Omroep MAX. In addition, he writes a column for De Telegraaf once a week with the subject, how else, pensions.
Gommer and his now ex-partner bought the building on Van Malsenstraat in 2001. “We have renovated the house together and made it bigger,” he says. “Everything has been tackled from top to bottom. We had three children in the house. My partner and I were divorced in 2017 and each started to follow our own way.”

Their three children have now also left the parental home. “Our house is a real family home. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and has a nice large garden. In the house a family has to live with young, growing children,” says Gommer.
What makes his house so unique? “The location. It is about seven hundred meters away from the center. There are also all facilities, such as shops, education and nightlife. From Tilburg you are within half an hour in Breda, Den Bosch or Eindhoven. That is also nice for people who work for example at ASML.”
The villa is nicely on the plot, says Gommer. “Not too far from the street. It is a beautiful house with a garden of 950 square meters.” On the inside it is a spacious villa with two large living rooms and five bedrooms. Everyone can find a place there. ”

At the beginning of this year the moment he had to choose between whether or not to sell his beloved spot in Goirle. “That was easier said than done. After 25 years I wanted something else, but was not ready for an apartment yet.”
During a bike ride towards Poppel there was an interesting house for sale on the Belgian side. “Eight kilometers from my house, a hundred meters across the border. I acted quickly and made an offer. In the meantime I live there and I am also registered in Belgium. In Goirle I have had a wonderful time. I plan to live in Belgium for another 25 years. Then I move to an apartment.”
The owner assumes that buyers will not take long. “I hope for a family with growing children. They may have built up a nice surplus value in recent years. Then they might be able to take a big step on the housing market.”
