A striking increase in Drenthe is that of manslaughter and murder. That has increased by 95 percent. That is the fastest increase of all provinces.
The police registered 43 cases of murder and manslaughter in the first six months of this year. This includes, for example, illegal abortion, intentionally inciting suicide or assisted suicide. In the first half of last year there were 22, in the last six months of 2021 there were 34.
This is especially the case in the municipality of Emmen. There it has been hit 14 times so far, compared to 4 in the first six months of last year. There is also an increase in the municipality of Meppel: from 1 in the entire previous year to 6 this year.
