The Tour de Ski brought juicy prize money

The International Ski Federation increased the Tour de Ski prize money significantly.

Kerttu Niskanen finished second in the Tour de Ski that ended on Sunday. It is the best ranking of Niskanen’s career from the legendary ski tour.

The success also brought a hefty cash pot, as the Finnish skier earned 63,600 euros in prize money.

Niskanen received 60,600 euros for his second place.

The Finn skied second in the ten kilometers of Val Müstair, and was third in the 15 kilometers of Val di Fiemme. The Finn paid a good 3,000 euros for the podium places.

The international skiing federation Fis radically increased the Tour’s prize money for this season. While last year’s winners received around 55,600 euros, this time the first prize is 80,900 euros.

On the Tour, prize money was paid to the top three in each race. The leader of the Tour received 1,000 euros after each race in which he held the pole position.

The top 20 skiers in the overall situation also received money. The top three in the points competition were awarded a cash prize.

Niskanen finished fourth in the points race. The winner of the points competition received 6,000, the runner-up 3,000 and the third 2,000.

Money for Pärmäkoski and Kyllönen

Krista Pärmäkoski had to stop the Tour on Saturday because of a stomach bug. The Finn skied two second places, so he still accumulated 4,000 euros in his bank account.

Pärmäkoski has collected a total of 19,700 euros in prize money this season.

Anne Kyllönen ranked 19th overall in the Tour. Kyllönen received 1,500 euros for his achievement.
