The S-Bahn has “Desi-pillars”, but not the U-Bahn, tram or bus

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, there have been disinfectant dispensers in many places. There is no such thing at the BVG. how come

On average, around one million passengers use the Berlin S-Bahn every day. At 14 of the 168 stops there are a total of 25 disinfectant dispensers, so-called Desi columns – in addition to the main station also at the stations Wannsee, Jungfernheide and Potsdamer Platz.

On average, there are around two million passengers a day on the buses and trains of the public transport company. Disinfectant for the passengers? None!

The FDP MP Felix Reifschneider (44) asked the traffic administration. “The BVG is based on the recommendations of the RKI on the subject of hand disinfection,” the BVG is quoted in the answer.

Effective disinfection is only possible if the disinfectant is spread over all skin surfaces of the hands and rubbed in for 30 to 60 seconds.

“The quick spraying of the hands with relatively little disinfectant from a dispenser suggests a level of safety that does not really exist,” it continues.

Yes, antiseptic hands on the S-Bahn, but not on the BVG. “Hand hygiene is particularly important where many people are out and about,” says FDP politician Reifschneider. “The fact that the BVG does not want to offer hand disinfection at its stations no longer meets the needs of customers.”

Deutsche Bahn shows what is possible.
