Asuncion Loriente She has been in office since 2018, and was re-elected as president of the Spanish Rowing Federation (FER) on June 27, 2021, with 54 votes in favor, 9 abstentions and one null vote. She is the only woman who presides over a Spanish Olympic federation and one of the two who hold this position in a national sports federation. In addition, due to her federative work, the leader is a member of the directive committee of the Higher Sports Council and of the European Rowing Board.

In view of this event, the current president communicates that: “We are at a stage in which the best sporting results are being achieved at an international level, the functioning of the FER has been improved and the calendar has been boosted with new, more attractive competitions. This motion of censure not only affects me, but also attacks the trajectory of the best era of Spanish rowing and hinders the start of the new Olympic cycle and the 2022 season. There is no doubt that the background of the motion of censure It goes beyond the strictly sports, and I can only think of the discomfort that certain people cause that it is a woman who is occupying this managerial position & rdquor ;.

Since Sunday, January 9, the motion of censure has been following the relevant legal steps and deadlines.
