In Alma-Ata, the number of detainees who are considered participants in looting, “illegal actions” and other crimes exceeded 2.7 thousand people. This was reported by the press service of the commandant’s office of the city, transmits Kazakh Telegraph Agency.

β€œIn total, since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation, 2,748 participants in illegal actions, looting and other crimes have been detained. In total, 131 firearms and 4,179 ammunition were seized,” the ministry said.

Earlier, on January 17, at the commandant’s office reported about 2601 detainees in Alma-Ata. Law enforcement officials then seized 127 firearms and 4,077 ammunition.

The authorities of Alma-Ata estimated the amount of damage from the riots at 19 billion rubles.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan, as of January 13, 494 criminal cases were initiated, of which 44 cases were initiated on acts of terrorism, 34 on riots and 15 on murders. Almost 5 thousand people were brought to administrative responsibility for violations of the state of emergency.
