Last Tuesday at the Hungarian WTA tour tournament, the Chinese Zhang Shuai stopped his match Amarissa Tothia after having a panic attack triggered by an opponent’s unsportsmanlike trick.

The 20-year-old Toth, who played his home tournament, went to wipe the spot where the ball hit by Zhang hit with his foot while the Chinese was still discussing the point with the referee. Zhang, ranked second in the tournament, asked Toth why he did that.

– That’s because you cause problems, answered the Hungarian.

Zhang broke down at the treatment he received and quit. Toth, on the other hand, was in the opposite mood and aired his victory over the top player.

In the tournament, Unranked Toth received a lot of criticism for his actions. On the Some side, tennis followers have commented that Toth has broken the bar in a new way, described him as the most hated player in the world and sided with the Chinese.

However, Toth is not alone. The tournament organizer commented on Facebook that he was aware of the video of the game event spreading on social media. The video is described in the comments as misleading and as China’s attempt to smear Toth.

– The Hungarian tennis player did not always behave appropriately in her first WTA main match, but she did not do anything that could be described as unfair. There was no ambiguity, the release states.

– The Chinese manipulate the world with a manipulative video.

Among other things, the Polish tennis star Magda Linette shared a comment left by the tournament.

– This is the worst answer from the tournament that I have ever seen, Linette says with a heated emoji.

Apologized

Amarissa Toth instantly became a criticized player. PDO

Despite the shock, Toth continued to the next round in the mass tournament. In the radio interview between the matches, the young Hungarian did not yet show that he was in a contrite mood, but the tone changed on the clock after the next game.

– I don’t understand why Zhang made such a mess out of this. He wanted to deny the judge’s decision. I don’t understand why he didn’t accept it. He only made this a problem for himself, Toth first told Radio Kossuth.

Toth played Ukraine in the quarterfinals Kateryna Baindlia against. The Ukrainian didn’t leave anything to chance but “revenge” for his colleague by knocking down the young tennis player in two sets 6–3, 6–1.

In the interview that followed, Toth better understood his mistake. The information department of the tournament, which also changed its mind, published an interview about the player, in which he apologizes.

– I couldn’t believe that my success in the first main match would cause such a storm. I am very sorry for what happened. It was not my intention to disrespect Zhang or to offend anyone else, least of all Zhang.

Toth also apologized for his vents.

– I focused so much on tennis. I wouldn’t have wanted to win like that.
