“In the context of the digital transformation of public administration, when basic information about citizens is accumulated in the information systems of government bodies and is provided to interested departments upon request, there is no longer the need for the mandatory stamping of marks in the passport on marriage registration and children,” the department explained.

Lawyers called difficulties due to the abolition of stamps in the passport on marriage and children

The stamps in the passport on the registration of marriage and children became optional for Russians in the summer of 2021. Now they can be placed at the request of citizens. Only two stamps remained obligatory in the passport – on registration at the place of residence and on military service.

Lawyers interviewed by RBC said that the abolition of stamps in the passport on marriage and children can lead to problems in real estate transactions, as well as create difficulties in the execution of an inheritance.
