The mayor of La Bisbal attributes the record delinquency of his municipality to an error

For years, the Girona municipality of La Bisbal d’Empordà It appears as one of the most delinquent in the statistics of Average Payment Terms to suppliers (PMP) of the Ministry of Finance. It is one of the nine municipalities in Spain that takes the longest to pay the invoices to its suppliers with an average of 1,237.23 days, with data from the month of September.

However, the mayor of the municipality, Enric Marquès, denies that this is the case and explains that the figure is derived from a “bad accounting adjustment with the company Agbar”. Marquès details that due to a judicial disputehe started in 2010 with the company that supplies water in the municipality (Sorea, later absorbed by Agbar) due to disagreements in the contract and the price of the water service, the City Council of La Bisbal “had a whole series of settlements pending accounting” .

Throughout these years, the service bills have been entering the City Council of La Bisbal and being accounted for as debt despite being paid. “This has made that exaggerated figure of delay in payment appear. When in reality we are paying the bills with an average of between 15 and 30 days after their entry, like any other city council & rdquor ;, adds the mayor.
