“People ask why I walk both distances, but I just enjoy it,” says Richard Douma. The 31-year-old runner follows his own course and can sometimes differ from other athletes. “I am who I am,” he admits.
On the Zandvoort circuit, the link is quickly laid with Max Verstappen. The born Zaankanter sees some similarities with the racing driver, especially when it comes to authenticity. “I also just do what feels right, only it is not that I win everything.”
