The entities protested the withdrawal of seven amendments to the Sports Law
The representatives consider that they have been heard and will make their positions more flexible
The representatives of 39 of the 42 Spanish First and Second Division clubs, with the exception of Barça, Real Madrid and Athletic, together with the president of the employers’ association, Javier Tebas, met today with representatives of the Government to convey your opinion about the New Sports Law.
After more than two hours of meeting with Miquel Iceta, Minister of Culture and Sports, and José Manuel Franco, President of the CSD, the entities present opted for the path of “dialogue” and left the threat of suspending the competitions on ‘stand by’. A decision that was on the table after seven amendments to the Sports Law that they considered key were withdrawn.
“We see a viable solution based on dialogue and understanding. We have made a commitment to the minister that in the next few days we are going to pass him some texts that set aside value and build from there. We must defend a model of success that is leading us to feel proud of the work that is being done. But we believe that after today’s meeting we can achieve it through dialogue”assured Quico Catalán, president of Levante, on behalf of the clubs.
“They have listened to us. The new law would harm us clubs and we cannot allow it. We hope and wish that it be resolved,” explained José Castro, president of Sevilla.
