The Spanish fast fashion provider Zara has opened its largest store in Germany to date in the Westfield Centro shopping center.
Zara opened his 3,300 square meter sales area in the UNIBAIL-RODAMCO-WESTFIELD (URW) shopping center in Oberhausen today, announced the fashion filmist belonging to Inditex on Thursday. Overall, the rental area used by Zara should be almost twice as large, although the other half of the area is probably not visible for consumers: inside.
The shopping center owner Urw announced the renovation for the new Zara store in October 2023. At that time it was said that Zara would take a rental area of 6,000 square meters after “extensive construction measures” and will continue to operate the previous store in Westfield Centro until the planned opening in the first half of 2025.
Zara is expanding omnichannel approach
For the new store, by offering Zara his women’s, men’s and children’s collections, the company puts on an omnichannel approach and thus continues to roll out its latest store concept. In addition to the usual collections, lines such as Zara Origins and the Zara Athleticz sports collection as well as a separate area for shoes and bags and a limited lingerie collection are also part of the range.
In addition to self-checkout cash registers, the technologies used in the store also include an automated pick-up system for online orders with space for 800 packages, an automated return stations and an automated transport system in the warehouse that should make sorting easier. In addition, the inventory is connected to Zara’s web shop channels, so that the article availability queries in real time and the Click & Collect option in the store can be realized within two hours.
In addition to the technical offer, the store also offers a collection point for cardboard packaging and a container for used clothing.
