The Heroine of Today’s Literary Prize is dedicated to the female characters who most impressed us during the year. A small but “robust” award: so far it has crowned Giulia Florio, Plautilla Bricci and Oliva Denaro, respectively protagonists of the books by Stefania Auci, Melania Mazzucco and Viola Ardone. We like to look for, among the books that we will read again this year, women of all shades, energetic, courageous, cheerful, thoughtful, who in their own way, within the folds of the plot, inspired us, gave us a spark.
The regulation for reporting books for the 2022 edition
Novels by Italian authors, women or men, published in the period from November 1, 2021 to October 31, 2022. Self-published texts are not included in the selection.
A shortlist of 5 finalists was drawn from the recommendations received by readers and the editorial staff. Among these, a jury of booksellers, chosen throughout Italy, and two members of the editorial staff of iO Donna, will identify the winner.
The jury of booksellers is composed of: Barbara Pieralice (New Europe, Rome), Eleonora Tassoni (Rinascita, Ascoli), Enza Campino (Tuttilibri, Formia), Benedetta Andrigo (Nautilus Coop, Mantua), Manuela Stefanelli (Hoepli, Milan). Each year, an element chosen in collaboration with the Umberto and Elisabetta Mauri Booksellers School is added to the jury: this year it is Maria Laterza from the Laterza bookshop in Bari.
