Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin discussed by phone with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu the build-up of forces on the border with Ukraine, informs US Department of Defense.
“Lloyd Austin had a conversation with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. They discussed the buildup of Russian military forces in Crimea and around Ukraine,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
According to the Russian ministry, Shoigu and Austin discussed security issues “of mutual interest.”
