Earlier, a representative of the US State Department said that the draft amendments to the Belarusian constitution could allow Russia to deploy its nuclear weapons on the territory of a neighboring country. According to her, the wording of the changes could be interpreted as “opening the way” for Russian nuclear and other weapons. The State Department considered that this could become a challenge to European security and would require a “response” from the United States.
