Because parents don’t want to be stuck with their children or because people can’t go to work? No, that is not a reason to adjust the corona rules for children.

It is not the quarantine rules that cause the problems, but the large number of infections among primary school children. It makes sense if hundreds of unvaccinated people (aged 6 to 12) are allowed to walk, sing, dance and play football on the playground without a mask without keeping any distance. Why only bubbles in the classroom and no bubbles on the playground?

It must be sustainable and safe? Almost impossible situation, I think. But it also depends on how you interpret ‘safe’. It will probably be safe enough for the children: the risk of serious symptoms is relatively low, even without a vaccine. The risk may be greater for the elderly they come into contact with. But then you are going to punish the schools, and by extension the entire education system, for what happens outside the school gates? That’s pure nonsense isn’t it?

We knew what would happen if we relaxed the rules in the schools. That they would close on their own. That’s happening now. And if we relax a little more in the current circumstances, we’ll know what will happen. Schools will close on their own at a faster rate.

The infections in themselves are not a problem if one is (almost) not ill. If the hospitalizations mainly affect the elderly population, let the adults take responsibility and don’t make the children suffer. The youth is not spoiled by the way. For two years, their rights have been flagrantly violated.

Switch to distance learning as soon as possible. Despite all the drawbacks, this is still better than that half-hearted thing. Secondary students are just as much in their studies as they are in class and thus learn nothing at all. The older students of primary education can also perfectly follow lessons from home for a few weeks. This has been proven before. This limits enormous amounts of contacts and protects the teachers. Otherwise schools threaten to close completely due to a lack of teachers.

Classes closed, classes open, classes closed… Immediately throw that corona barometer overboard. Even before corona, schools had bouts of colds and flu every year. Teachers had to switch gears, merge classes, adjust childcare… But schools did not close. If necessary, the director stood in front of the class. Schools do not close because there are too few students. Schools do close when there are too few staff left to keep things going. By becoming even more lax with the quarantine rules, even more teachers / staff members will be infected and drop out, and even more closures will be necessary. It is because of this kind of short-term thinking that this pandemic has dragged on for so long. Again and again the reins are loosened too quickly.

According to the virologists, voluntarily letting yourself be infected is life-threatening. Apparently this is not a problem for school-aged children and teachers. After all, these proposals create a situation where you will contract an infection with a probability bordering on certainty. Doing well.
