Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, Russian courts have imposed work restrictions. The Supreme Court then decided to consider only cases of an urgent nature: on the selection, extension, cancellation or change of a measure of restraint, on the protection of the interests of a minor or a person recognized in accordance with the established procedure as incompetent, in case of refusal of a legal representative from medical intervention necessary to save a life, and others , as well as cases subject to consideration in the order of writ, simplified proceedings.

If there is a technical possibility, the Supreme Court ordered to hold meetings using videoconferencing systems. Personal reception of citizens was suspended, documents could only be submitted online or by mail.
