The “co-author” of Malevich’s student, who painted the eyes in the picture, turned out to be a security guard

vandal ruining the picture Anna Leporskaya “Three Figures”, which is a student of Kazimir Malevich, turned out to be a security guard at the Yeltsin Center, where Leporskaya’s work was exhibited.

“In the course of the investigation, the identity of the person who drew eyes on the figures in the painting by Anna Leporskaya was established – this is an employee of a private security organization that carries out security activities at the Yeltsin Center,” reports RIA News with reference to the press service of the EC.

An employee of the private security company, on duty, had to monitor the safety of works of art. But, apparently, modern painting did not arouse admiration in him, and he decided to finish the faceless figures on the canvas with a ballpoint pen. It is known that the security guard is 60 years old and it was his first working day.

For co-authorship, the security guard faces a fine of up to 40 thousand rubles or arrest for 3 months. Yekaterinburg police initiated case of vandalism.

The painting itself was insured for 75 million rubles, it was removed from the exhibition and returned to the Tretyakov Gallery for restoration, which will cost 250 thousand rubles.
