The A28 towards Groningen will be closed next weekend. Check here how best to take a detour

The A28 from Groningen South to the city will be closed this weekend. Trees and shrubs are planted in the central reservation.

The closure will begin on Friday evening, November 24 at 10:00 PM and will last until 6:00 AM on Monday morning, November 27. There is one lane available in the other direction.

A total of around eleven hundred trees will be planted along the A28 and the southern ring road (N7/A7). It’s about bullshit. These are narrow, tall trees. There will also be rose bushes in the central reservation. Traffic on the A28 towards Groningen will be diverted off the road at exit 39 Groningen-Zuid this weekend. There, motorists can turn left to Laan Corpus den Hoorn or right to Van Ketwich Verschuurlaan.

Traffic further away, on the A28 towards the city, has already been diverted, via Heerenveen (the A32 and the A7) or via Gieten (the N33 and the A7).

Trees and shrubs will also be planted along the A28 during the weekend of December 1 to 4. The A28 will no longer be closed, but the entrance ramp from Groningen-Zuid towards Julianaplein and the Groningen-Centrum exit (to Brailleweg) will be closed.

Traffic from Julianaplein towards Hoogkerk/Drachten may also experience disruption this weekend. Poles will be installed from Julianaplein to the Corpus den Hoorn exit for the green screens that will be installed here. One lane will then be available for traffic. These activities will also take place from Friday evening, November 24, 10:00 PM until Monday morning, November 27, 6:00 AM.
