He is a big player in the event industry – Stephan Thanscheidt is not just physically superior to most of his colleagues. The CEO of FKP Scorpio has now been honored with the “Award for Excellence & Passion”.
“We as a festival family have to stand together,” said Thanscheidt at the award ceremony. “This is more important today than ever. At the same time, we must be aware of our responsibility to offer our guests a good time at the festivals.”
Thanscheidt received the award at this year’s Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival in Groningen, the Netherlands. It was the 40th edition of the most important European showcase festival, opened by Queen Máxima. In addition to Thanscheidt, the Austrian festival organizer Ewald Tatar was also honored.

Stephan Thanscheidt is not only managing director at FKP Scorpio, he is also one of the most high-profile bookers. He looks after the Hurricane, Southside, Highfield, Deichbrand, Elbjazz festivals, among others – and also the annual ROLLING STONE Beach on Weissenhäuser Strand. FKP Scorpio is one of the largest event organizers in Europe with 350 employees in eleven countries.
