New details about the Kiefer Sutherland case: The star allegedly threatened his driver to “pull over or I’ll kill you.”
Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on Monday, January 12, 2026, following a dispute with an Uber driver. Details about the situation have now become known.
The “24” actor must appear in court on February 2, 2026 for the offense. The accusation against the actor is that he became violent. He also made a verbal threat against his driver.
Description to the police
The mime himself described the situation to the police as follows: He had dinner with a friend on Sunday evening. Late in the evening he made his way home in an Uber that he had previously ordered.
While driving, the actor, also known as a folk rock singer, asked his driver to pull over to the right. The reasons for this are unknown. However, the request was rejected twice. As a result, the 59-year-old threatened to kill the driver if he did not comply with the request. He then contacted the police on 911 and reported that in addition to the threat, he had also been physically attacked. “TMZ” reported on the descriptions.
Language barrier as a trigger?
According to the police report, a language barrier between those involved may have triggered the confrontation. When the LAPD arrived, the driver could only speak Russian or Armenian and asked for a translator to clarify the situation. The authorities then sent this.
Although the driver did not suffer any serious injuries, Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on charges of menacing. He was released from custody a few hours later on $50,000 bail.
However, many questions still remain unanswered. Also how the phrase “Pull over or I’ll kill you” was actually chosen by Sutherland. The Hollywood star has not yet commented on this.
Possible consequences
Given the upcoming court date, it remains to be seen whether the Uber driver will file a lawsuit against Donald Sutherland’s son or whether he will have to answer based on the criminal record.
